About Me
Rebecca Pemberton
Traditional Naturopath/Integrative Homeopath
Every alternative health practitioner I have ever met has a similar story: Allopathic medicine did not meet their needs, and they began a search for answers outside of mainstream medicine. I am no different.
In 1985, I developed gastrointestinal issues due to stress. My elderly family physician put me on a ‘white diet’ (yes, you read that correctly: I could eat anything white that I wanted) to deal with the gastrointestinal issues…and it put me into what is now known as insulin resistance, which caused weight issues for decades (yes, decades).
In 1998, I was very easily diagnosed with fibromyalgia, at a time when it was very difficult to be given that particular diagnosis. During that time, there were friends and family who were told “It’s all in your head”, going to doctor after doctor to try to find out answers before finally receiving their diagnosis of fibromyalgia. After two and a half years of not being able to live the life I wanted to live, I prayed and made a deal with God. I asked Him to cure me, or kill me, because I couldn’t continue living (existing) that way. I promised if He would show me what I needed to do or how to get better, I would do it — and — I would help the people He put in my life path.
He kept His Word. A couple of weeks later, a friend called to check on me and encouraged me to see a Traditional Naturopath. I made the trek to see her, and within 30 minutes of taking the two items she recommended I. Was. Symptom. Free. From. Fibromyalgia. This was a life-changing moment for me.
Most people believe that fibromyalgia (or any other condition or diagnosis, for that matter) is a life-long sentence of pain and misery. I have a different experience and now know that there are various natural solutions to address any condition in the body. It is possible to enjoy health and wellness at any age. Big, scary diagnoses all have a root cause, and often these can be addressed with simple lifestyle changes such as diet, rest, exercise, supplements and stress management.
Homeopathy, naturopathy, nutrition, emotional release, infrared therapy, auriculotherapy — these are all very powerful tools in achieving and maintaining health and wellness.
Fast forward to 2015, when I as diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome – (we’ll skip over the years of back/neck/TMJ injuries/surgeries, infertility, stress and depression). Ehlers-Danlos is a genetic condition that for me includes joint hypermobility and the possibility of excruciating pain, along with some other not so fun symptoms. At my age, I *should* be braced practically from head to toes, in a wheelchair or bed-ridden. Thankfully, I am none of those things, and as of the first week of December, 2019, I am totally pain free on a daily basis. Of course, I do have to make adjustments and accommodations at times and have to be very intentional with how I live my life and manage my health and wellness. But, having witnessed the devastation this condition can cause, at my age, I’m very pleased with my progress, and continue the work to live my best life.
Keeping up my side of my deal with God, I returned to school, began studying, and haven’t stopped: Traditional naturopathy, homeopathy, holistic nutrition, nutritional therapy, Functional Diagnostic Nutrition, Metabolic Typing, Traditional Chinese Medicine, gluten-free nutrition, raw foods nutrition, Paleo nutrition, detoxification, natural hormone balance, emotional release, acupressure, aromatherapy, herbology, cognitive behavior therapy, color therapy, kinesiology, neurolinguistic programming, bioenergetic/electrodermal scans, energy medicine, infrared therapy, auriculotherapy. These are the tools and resources I use to help individuals achieve their health and wellness goals, so they can enjoy their best life.
That people allow me to be an educator and resource as part of their health and wellness journey is one of the most humbling, sacred, exciting, fun experiences on the planet, and I’m grateful to be so blessed.
To God be all the Glory.
