What is your definition of wellness?
To me, wellness is being able to live an authentic life in a positive, productive way and enjoying your well-cared for body. Being strong, flexible, well- nourished and comfortable in your skin/clothes/life. Does this mean skinny? No. You may have heard “strong is the new skinny”. Being a “skinny fat person” is no healthier than being a “stocky” healthy person if your cardiovascular health suffers, you can’t perform the activities you’d like, you’re uncomfortable or you don’t have good digestion and assimilation of nutrients to maintain your body and health.
What activities would you like to do, but your current physical, emotional, mental or spiritual health precludes your participation? Are you living an authentic life? Are you stressed? Do you sleep well? Do you eat to live or live to eat? Can you walk or participate in activities without quickly becoming winded or out of breath? Does a diagnosis or pain take over your life? Do you like your life, or do you dream of having a better one?
Wellness means intentionally introducing into your life those habits, people and things which are healthy and beneficial to you. It is a place of blessing. How can you bless others if you are exhausted, stressed and malnourished?
Wellness is a journey…a life path…an intention. A gift to yourself, your loved ones and your community. It is responsible stewardship of the wondrous gift of this life you’ve been given by your Creator.
As a Holistic Health Professional, I utilize a variety of tools and strategies to provide the education, resources and support to assist individuals and groups in incorporating wellness into their daily lives.
